From the recording Joella - There Are No Words
Lyrics
All of our songs are about true-life experiences and although this song is not yet finished we thought we would share the story with you…
My wife and I have spent many years trying to reach out to children in foster care, with the hope that we would one day be able to adopt a child into our family.
Our day finally came. We received the call we’d been waiting for…
The VT Department of Social Services contacted us about a baby that needed an immediate home.
We would need to hurry though, as this baby was in serious danger and needed a family that could hide and protect her from the evil she was taken from.
Surely, no Judge in his right mind, would send this 4 week old baby back to her natural family. Would they?
After all, this baby required extra special care. The State hid her with us to protect her from a ‘father’ that had been convicted of child molestation and a 'mother' who was frequently hospitalized due to drug overdoses.
The Court mandated that we bring the baby for weekly visits with her 'so-called parents, even though they had threatened to kidnap the baby and to “bump off any one who got in their way”.
We and the baby assumed false identities. We prayed to God for her protection. We weaned her off of the poison of the drugs that her ‘mother’ had passed on to her tiny body at birth.
It became necessary to remove the license plates from our vehicle and to have the local Sheriff drive by our home to ensure that we were not being followed.
For several months we dreamed, we gazed into her little eyes, listened to her soft cooing and woke to her cries, we fell in love and drifted away, caught in her trance, we listened to her beautiful music and danced to her songs, we planned for the day when we could call her our own.
-but it was not to be…
While vacationing on the Cape enjoying the wonders of our children, the ocean and the sand; we received a call …. “You need to bring the baby back – The Judge has ordered that she be returned to her "natural family”
This song is a lament for our precious little one and for anyone who has lost a child –
There Are No Words...
that could ever take away the pain!
